Powder that stunts 'Nonsense Mutations'

PTC124 is a simple powder developed, which could be available in two years time. It supposedly treats nonsense mutations in our DNA that causes diseases such as cystic fibrosis, and muscular distrophy. 

Dr Peltz, of PTC Therapeutics, said: 'The difference between this and other drugs is it doesn't [just] treat the symptoms, it treats the underlying cause.

'The drug allows the body to make the lost protein.'
